By the third day of our reno, I know I was exhausted. We dragged ourselves to the house after church anyway, just the two of us this time, alone in our own little piece of real estate.
It's a weird feeling, you know, after 6 years of renting while we were students and newlyweds. To stand in our house and know in our heads that this place is ours, that no one else has any sort of claim on it. I don't know if I've fully grasped what that means, though hammering holes into the drywall certainly helps with the bonding process between home and owner.
We spent the afternoon sitting in the house just staring at the work we'd done the day before, trying to envision how the new walls would go up, where the new toilet would stand. We marked everything out, solved a kitchen conundrum or two, then packed ourselves up and headed back to the condo with our dog.
